For the second consecutive year, the SMRT Contractors’ Safety Forum successfully gathered over 200 participants from 90 contractor companies and external agencies.

This event served as a crucial platform for advancing safety collaborations within our transport sector.

Event Highlights

  • The inaugural ‘SMRT Contractors Safety Awards’ were presented to 10 value chain partners, honouring their dedication to high safety standards.
  • We introduced the ‘Kaizen for Safety’ course, a one-day program designed to provide contractor partners with essential Kaizen principles and techniques.
  • A new Guidebook for Operations and Maintenance Audit was launched to assist SMRT staff and partners in performing safety audits.
  • Innovative safety solutions were showcased at exhibition booths, including fleet-wide enhancements such as Anti-Fatigue Systems and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

The forum was honoured by the presence of Minister for Transport Hong Tat Chee and SMRT Management, including Chairman Seah Moon Ming, Group CEO Hoon Ping Ngien, Board Member and Chairman of the Board Safety, Security & Health Committee (BSSHC) William Tan, and Board Members Abu Bakar Mohd Nor, Chin Hwee Ng, and Yap Kim Wah. We also welcomed representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore, Ministry of Manpower, Workplace Safety and Health Council, National Transport Workers’ Union, industry leaders, and contractor partners, including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
